Total Energy News | July 2025

Greetings,

We hope you are finding ways to enjoy the lovely summer weather we are having.

While we certainly don’t want the summer to rush by, we are already looking forward to the 2025 EAN Annual Network Summit, which will be November 5th 2025 at Bolton Valley. We invite you to register now at the lower early bird price. We are deeply grateful to the companies and organizations shown below whose sponsorship makes this event so successful. If your organization is a sponsor of the event, as listed below, thank you, and you should use the promo code “Sponsor” when registering. If your organization is not a sponsor but is interested in becoming one, please contact Cara for more information.

At the 2025 Summit, EAN will once again seek “pitches” from Network members and public sector partners. These pitches will look to answer the question: What recommendations in the 2025 Climate Action Plan would benefit from collaborative network action by EAN members to make progress? EAN will welcome conversations for pitch planning throughout the month of September. You can see more here: https://eanvt.org/2025-ean-pitches/.

We hope you will also register for our Summer Research Interns’ Lunch and Learn on Thursday August 14th at noon to learn about our interns’ research on Vermont’s transmission and distribution grid and on mechanisms for Cap-and-Invest programs to provide direct rebates to individuals.

All the best,

Cara and Jared

Data Download | EV incentives will expire in September

Federal incentives for both new and used electric vehicles are set to expire at the end of September 2025. About two-thirds of vehicle purchases in Vermont are of used vehicles, which can be eligible for up to $4,000 in federal tax credits (until Sept. 30, 2025). Transitioning to an EV can deliver long-term affordability, because EVs typically have lower fueling and maintenance costs than fossil fuel vehicles, leading to lower lifetime costs of ownership. With state incentives fully expended, anyone who has been considering replacing a gas car with an EV might want to take a look now, before federal incentives expire. For the most up-to-date information about available incentives, visit driveelectricvt.com.

Profile – VIEW Training Center

The Vermont Innovation, Efficiency, and Weatherization (VIEW) Center hosted its grand opening earlier this month. Many EAN partners have been involved over the past few years in the effort to create this weatherization training center for Vermont. The mission of the VIEW Center is to provide high-quality, hands-on training in energy efficiency to support Vermont’s weatherization workforce, fostering sustainable, energy-efficient homes while contributing to the state’s economic and environmental goals.

The VIEW center offers online and in-person trainings for WAP crews and staff, EEN contractors, and other technicians, tradespeople, or people interested in learning more about efficiency and weatherization. Many trainings will be free over the next few months. You can see more including their training schedule on their website here: https://www.vtweatherizationtraining.com/
